Goodbye Summer, Hello Rehearsal

Dear Singers,

While the rain and the wind are clearly insisting on staying around, I am writing a little message to you on how to prepare for our first rehearsal in the new season.

WIX posts

We will still use the Wix-posts for messages about rehearsals and homework, and I will insert links to the File Share so you can find your scores and guide tracks easily. Make sure you read these posts as soon as possible.

GUIDE TRACKS

Thanks to Frank (B2) and AJ (B1) the guide tracks have been improved with some Artificial Cleverness. You can now listen to the word placement as well. It still doesn't sound human, but I'm guessing it is easier to listen to.

We will try out working with these tracks, but if the choir starts sounding like the tracks we might need to abandon them. Have a listen!

NEW REPERTOIRE

Please have a look at our Winter Show folder.

If you go to 1. Scores and Guide Tracks, you will see the first 5 songs we will be working on. In each folder you will find a PDF and a guide track for each voice group.

Please download the PDF for the following songs:

• Proud - Heather Small (Don't use your score of 2021, the voice groups are distributed differently)

And please also bring your score for Free yourself - Jessie Ware

IMPORTANT

Please prepare before you go to the rehearsal. When I say 'download the PDF', I do mean download!

During the rehearsal you can read the scores from paper or from a tablet with a score-reading and -annotating app.

• Don't open directly from the drive.

• Don't open the score in google Docs.

• Don't use a tablet in rehearsal if you are not able to make annotations.

• NEVER try to read the scores from your phone.

Making notes

During the rehearsal you need to make notes, for instance on where to breathe, where not to breathe, to remind yourself of the difficult bits so you can study more efficiently, to give yourself cues where to get the beginning note from, to correct your pronunciation, etc; these notes are as important as the score itself when learning the song by heart. You also might want to highlight the staff you're singing so it is easier to follow the score.
